CLASS DESCRIPTION:
A group voice class at Carrie U, from singer, actress, songwriter, recording artist and voice educator, Carrie Manolakos. In this class, you will dive into the voice, brain, and the heart.
What we will work on in class
- Train in ‘One Voice’ vocal technique, which is your own authentic voice, that can sing in many styles.
- Make space in your mouth and instrument to develop a natural resonance, making more sound with less effort.
- Develop habits that serve you in practice and performance.
- Connect to the heart and remove blocks (emotional and physiological and psychological.)
- Tap into the healing elements of the voice internally to be more effective externally.
- Be more present while sharing your voice with others.
- Balance vulnerability with power.
- Reconnect to the joy of singing and the infinite possibility of the greatest instrument there is : the human voice.
*This class is for singers of all styles. And the key requirements are an open heart, an encouraging attitude towards others, and a basic vocal understanding and skill level.
*We work from the level you are at. Working professionals and other voice instructors are often in the class. If this is you, and you miss singing and are more often holding space for others and not yourself, please join us.
*Each person will get up a minimum of 2 times to work one-on-one.
*If you are a brand new singer, there will be other opportunities for beginners. Hang tight!

Carrie Manolakos
has been on Broadway as Sophie in Mamma Mia, Toured as Elphaba in Wicked. Films include The Greatest Showman, Incredibles 2, Dear Evan Hansen, Croods and more. Her cover of Radiohead’s Creep went viral in 2012 with over 4 million views and was picked up by Gawker, MTV, MSNnow, Huffington Post, The New Yorker and more. She has two full records out, her debut record ‘Echo’ reached #44 on the iTunes pop charts and her last single was featured on z100 with Ariana Grande, Madonna, Katy Perry. Her most recent was her debut at Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops where she received a standing ovation mid act. Other stages and performances include, Madison Square Garden (with PHISH) and The Metropolitan Opera House (with Hugh Jackman.)
